Get My Payment App

The IRS released the web based application mid-April and can be found in the IRS website. The application called "Get My Payment" will allow taxpayers to submit their direct deposit information, as well as tracking the status of their payment.

Direct Deposit Information

Taxpayers that do not have direct deposit already on file can submit their direct deposit information within the application. Once the information is added, the taxpayer will get their payments quickly instead of waiting for a check in the mail. To update your bank information, you will need:

  • Your Adjusted Gross Income from the most recent tax return submitted, either 2018 (Line 7) or 2019 (Line 8b)
  • The Refund or amount owed from that tax return
  • Bank account type, and account and routing numbers

Have in mind that in an effort to protect taxpayers against fraud, the tool does not allow to change bank account information already on file with the IRS. Also, the tool will not let you update bank account information after an Economic Impact Payment has been scheduled for delivery.

Tracking Payment Status

To track the status of your payment, you will need some basic information in the Get My Payment app:

  • Social Security
  • Date of Birth
  • Mailing Address

Non-Filers

If you do not file taxes because your gross income was under $12,200 (including individuals that had no income) or because you weren't required to file for other reasons, you will use the "Non-Filers" link in the IRS website to provide simple information so you can get your payment.

If you receive:

  • Social Security retirement, disability, or survivor benefits
  • Railroad Retirement and Survivor Benefit

you do not have to use the application since the IRS already has your information.
