Financial Groove is a full-service, financial consulting, tax service and bookkeeping firm owned and operated by Jessica Scheitler. Jessica has extensive expertise handling tax preparation, accounting processes, consulting and bookkeeping for small businesses in many industries. As a graduate with honors from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, Jessica has parlayed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Choreography and minors in Arts Administration and Mathematics into a specialized career in arts accounting and business management.
Jessica grew up dancing in a dance studio in Iowa for 13 years and with roots in competitive dance, she held the title of Miss Dance of Mid-America and went on to be the recipient of numerous choreography and dance awards around the country. While in college, Jessica had the pleasure of performing work by Mark Morris and Martha Graham, with the great fortune of having pieces set by current company members.
Studying with prominent arts management author Alvin H. Reiss and executive director of The Joyce, Linda Shelton, inspired Jessica’s interest in arts administration. Jessica honed these skills in the offices of the Abingdon Theater Company where she worked closely with the director of marketing and business manager. From there Jessica worked as the assistant to the dance supervisor at Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway where she developed her skills of balancing the artistic side with the business side of productions.
Jessica also began choreographing independently throughout New York City in DUMBO, various galleries, and unconventional venues. She also showcased choreography at Peridance and Steps on Broadway and worked choreographing several regional theater productions including Godspell, Once Upon a Mattress, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
In 2002, Jessica began her career as a freelance bookkeeper in which she worked with companies in various industries such as cafes, party planning, catering, hedge fund managers, chiropractors, and beverage manufacturers among others. In an effort to work on the business side of the entertainment industry, Jessica began managing an entertainer who secured a headlining show at the Las Vegas Hilton and acted as Managing Director for JDB Productions, which is what brought her to Las Vegas.
With years of practical knowledge and experience, Jessica also worked at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service which prompted her to complete the circle of business offerings, and return to school to study accounting and taxes. Jessica became certified in QuickBooks and established ERO status with the IRS, enabling her to be an E-File provider.
Financial Groove was officially launched in 2007, with the decision to hone service offerings to the unique target market of the music, arts, and entertainment industry. Operating out of New York City and Las Vegas, Jessica has found the financial and business end of things often hold artists back from fully prospering in their art. Financial Groove was formed in order to bridge that gap. Clients often click with the fact that Jessica knows their tax write-offs, because she has experienced that life.
Jessica is currently active in the City Care Business Network and is member of the Las Vegas Young Professionals and Chamber of Commerce. She is also a founding member of Nevada Repertory Dance Theater and is actively involved in launching a new alliance of support for the community artists in the Las Vegas area.
Financial Groove's primary goal is to operate a company dedicated to artistic integrity by offering vital support to the artists who produce it. Financial Groove is proud to be working in tandem with extremely talented and inspired musicians, dancers, and entertainers. We believe that by staying true to yourself, your goals, and your passions, short-term sacrifices will lead to long-term success.
